Garage Tailors Inc. is a full service, privately owned and operated Canadian firm run by Ian Barrett. Based in Ontario, Garage Tailors specializes in interior garage design and organization. Garage Tailors takes care of all the required work to transform a garage from a neglected space in the house to one of the most useful and used spaces of the home.
Ian takes the time to truly understand what each homeowner needs for their garage to function to its maximum usability. Knowing that every garage is unique, and so is each garage owner. Whether a sports enthusiast, an avid gardener, an exotic car enthusiast or someone who simply wants to get the junk out and the car into the garage, Ian is able to organize and transform the garage into a fully functional room in your home.
As the owner Ian not only supervises each project but is also the one on-site doing the installation with his team , treating every garage as his own. The garage is an extension of the home, both functionally and aesthetically. It’s important that once the job is complete, the garage reflects your home’s overall look and feel. To do this, Ian recommends things such as the colour of slatwall and garage flooring to complement the home’s exterior. When your garage door opens, the visual result blends seamlessly.
At the initial consultation, Ian visits the home of the prospective client and spends time to find out your organizational habits, goals and priorities, and the purpose you want the garage to serve. He gets a sense of your lifestyle, your design or aesthetic preferences and priorities as well as the practical and functional needs the garage must serve. After the consultation, Ian sends an organizational, detailed proposal and itemized estimate.
Ian is personally involved in each project from start to finish, guaranteeing a professional job done to his exacting standards, on time and on budget.

About Ian Barrett
Ian’s extensive experience in the construction world includes time at one of Canada’s largest engineering companies, CH2M Hill (now Jacobs Engineering), where he was the Regional Manager for Engineering and Design.
While at CH2M Ian’s desire to continue his childhood hobby of building things around the house, Ian started doing garage and closet renovations for friends and family back in 2007. After a few years of doing garages as a hobby business Ian decided that he wanted to go into business for himself full time. Having always been interested in organization and renovation, deciding to trade in his corporate hat for his entrepreneurial hat full time was an easy decision. When he thought about how many jobs he was turning down for friends of friends, turning his hobby into a full-time business, it piqued his interest enough to take on the challenge of starting his own business. Knowing that working under a franchise tag would have been cost-prohibitive, he started a company on his own, creating a brand, sourcing product, developing a process and launching his company in 2007. Since then he has worked with hundreds of people helping them organize their garage and transform it into a useful space.
