This 2015 BMW M3 came to our shop with significant engine issues, including excessive oil consumption, loss of power, and unusual engine noise. After a comprehensive diagnostic assessment, we determined that a complete engine rebuild was necessary to restore the vehicle’s performance and reliability.
The client requested not only a restoration to factory specifications but also several performance upgrades to enhance the vehicle’s capabilities on both street and track.
The Challenge
The S55 twin-turbocharged engine in the BMW M3 is a complex powerplant with several known issues that required special attention:
- Worn rod bearings causing knocking sounds and potential catastrophic failure
- Carbon buildup on intake valves reducing performance and efficiency
- Oil pump drive gear failure risk requiring preventative replacement
- Integration of performance upgrades while maintaining reliability

- Complete engine disassembly and inspection of all components
- Replacement of rod bearings with upgraded aftermarket versions
